The Case

The global technology manufacturer Innjoo was looking for a partner in the football world, not only to increase the brand’s presence in the sports industry, but also to reinforce Innjoo’s relationship with tech distributors in Spain. 

On the other hand, the LaLiga first division club Deportivo Alavés, aimed to renew its sponsorship agreements for the next seasons. The club is part of the Baskonia-Alavés group which is connected to Eroski – one of Spain’s biggest distribution brands with over 1.000 supermarkets across the country. 

This connection was key to create the synergy between Innjoo and Alavés and make  their partnership a reality.

Deportivo Alavés

Deportivo Alavés was founded on January 23th, 1921, in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Álava, Basque Country) and the club has been representing the historical territory of Alava-Araba through football for nearly 100 years. 

The entity, which is currently presided by Alfonso Fernández de Trocóniz, has accumulated 15 campaigns in the Spanish top league. In addition, it has participated in the UEFA Cup on two occasions (2000/01 and 2002/03), reaching the final in the 2000/01 season.

The Challenge

ISL had to execute an extensive market research to find possible partners that matched Innjoo requirements: a first division football club connected to a tech distributor in Spain. 

After excluding football clubs connected with tech distributors in other regions, the ISL team concluded that Deportivo Aalavés would be the perfect match for Innjoo and vice-versa, due to the connection between Baskonia and the Eroski Group.

The Solution

ISL identified a football club that matched Innjoo’s needs and put both entities in contact, securing their negotiations. 

Once the Baskonia-Alaves group guaranteed the distribution of Innjoo products at Eroski supermarkets, the sponsorship between Innjoo and Deportivo Alavés deal was confirmed.

In addition, ISL followed up on the deal ensuring it was a win-win for both parties in terms of visibility and specific goals.

The Results

Innjo is an official sponsor of a LaLiga first division club, one of the strongest soccer leagues in Europe, which translates into brand exposure of millions of viewers worldwide.

The deal includes featuring Innjoo on Deportivo Alavés equipment, strategically positioned on the back of the players’ shorts, but also on the club’s press room equipment, at the club’s stadium and field, on the club’s bus, among other key locations. 

In addition, Innjoo products are present at hundreds of Eroski supermarkets across Spain, reaching millions of spanish consumers. 

On the other hand, Deportivo Alaves secured an important sponsorship deal from an economical perspective that will last for 3 seasons. 

The partnership between Innjoo and Alavés was also announced on the main spanish sports media and business outlets, increasing brand exposure for both entities. 

Several brand activations have been done during the first sponsoring season, such as Innjoo x Deportivo Alavés headphones, a viral video with an Innjoo pistol massage or an online contest to win a smart Innjoo watch, all resulting in more visibility, fan engagement and media coverage for both parties.
